PSFA water station at Sanlam Cape Town Marathon

Posted on September 19th, 2017 by Charles Grey

Sanlam Cape Town Marathon 2017, managed a water station in Liesbeek Parkway at the Marathon that took place on Sunday 17 September 2017. This provided us the opportunity to create awareness of our organisation as we were allowed to set up PSFA branding and wear PSFA Blisters for Bread t-shirts. A big thank you to Eerste River Athletics Club, Lions Club, PSFA staff and their families and friends for wearing Blisters for Bread t-shirts and kindly assisting with the handing out of water sachets and Coca-Cola to the runners and cleaning up afterward. A great time was had by all! ]]>

Christmas in July La Bottega Charity Party – a great success!

Posted on July 19th, 2017 by Charles Grey

A big thank you to Alistair Wilson at La Bottega Restaurant, Woodstock and Cape Town socialite and magazine model, Athena Jane, for organising and hosting the Christmas in July La Bottega Charity Party last Friday 14 July, to raise funds for PSFA. The event, which consisted of an auction of fantastic items by top Cape Town comedian, Paul Snodgrass, DJ’s, Candice Heyns & Adrian Gemini and great food, managed to raise a fantastic R20 000 from cover charges and auction bids. This amount will enable PSFA to provide over 44 underprivileged children on our feeding programme with a nutritious breakfast and lunch for an entire year! Thank you to all who supported the event! [caption id="attachment_7105" align="alignleft" width="591"] L – R Andrew Wilson, Alistair Wilson (owner of La Bottega Restaurant), Jenny Wilson and PSFA director, Petrina Pakoe[/caption]

A treat for impoverished children on Mandela Day 2017

Posted on July 18th, 2017 by Charles Grey

HOPE Africa and the Diocese of False Bay (Anglican Church), treated 120 impoverished children on our feeding programme at Siqalo Crèche in Philippi and Aunty F’s Daycare Centre in Gugulethu, to a host of fun activities at Imhoff Farm in Kommetjie and then lunch at St Joseph’s Catholic Church situated close by. The children, most of whom have never left their informal settlements, had the amazing opportunity to visit the Higgeldy Piggeldy animal farm, have fun at Maze World, watch a great puppet show and meet the camels.

The children were then transported to the Catholic Church nearby, where they were treated to a warm lunch and refreshments. After lunch, each child received a gift and a Blisters for Bread medal. The principals of each Crèche were given hygiene packs to hand out to the children when they returned, and disposable nappies to use at their respective Crèches. A big thank you to Workforce for the generous donation to cover the costs of purchasing the hygiene packs, nappies and food, to HOPE Africa and the Diocese of False Bay for covering the costs of the transportation, puppet show and entry fees into Maze World, all the volunteers and PSFA staff for their assistance and St Joseph’s Catholic Church, for providing the free use of their hall for lunch.
