HOPE Africa and the Diocese of False Bay (Anglican Church), treated 120 impoverished children on our feeding programme at Siqalo Crèche in Philippi and Aunty F’s Daycare Centre in Gugulethu, to a host of fun activities at Imhoff Farm in Kommetjie and then lunch at St Joseph’s Catholic Church situated close by.
The children, most of whom have never left their informal settlements, had the amazing opportunity to visit the Higgeldy Piggeldy animal farm, have fun at Maze World, watch a great puppet show and meet the camels.
The children were then transported to the Catholic Church nearby, where they were treated to a warm lunch and refreshments. After lunch, each child received a gift and a Blisters for Bread medal. The principals of each Crèche were given hygiene packs to hand out to the children when they returned, and disposable nappies to use at their respective Crèches.
A big thank you to Workforce for the generous donation to cover the costs of purchasing the hygiene packs, nappies and food, to HOPE Africa and the Diocese of False Bay for covering the costs of the transportation, puppet show and entry fees into Maze World, all the volunteers and PSFA staff for their assistance and St Joseph’s Catholic Church, for providing the free use of their hall for lunch.
