Tori Turner, a 12-year-old from Muizenberg, who has her own business called To Have & To Hold Scrunchies that makes and sells hair scrunchies, has kindly offered to donate R10 to PSFA for each scrunchie she sells during November and December. A Virtual Celebration for a Real Difference The COVID-19 pandemic has had a sudden and substantial negative impact on all sectors of our economy, and long-lasting effects on our communities. This year, we are celebrating our annual Blisters for Bread Walk in an untypical environment. While this popular charity family fun walk will not be taking place in its original format this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, PSFA invites you to join them in the fight against hunger by entering and participating in your own walk with family and friends in your neighbourhoods or communities from now until Sunday 8 November 2020. Your entry fee will enable PSFA to provide 24 school children effected by poverty with a nutritious cooked breakfast and lunch for an entire day. Miltons Matsemela Inc., a law firm specializing in conveyancing, believes in giving back to the community. The main beneficiary of their community outreach programme has been the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) and for every property transfer instruction that they receive as a result of an estate agent’s recommendation, they make a donation to feed a child at school for a period of six months. This month Miltons have reached the milestone of R2 million in donations.

Mandela Day 2020, the PSFA staff travelled to an impoverished town in the Klein Karoo called Zoar, with our main aim being to prepare and serve meals to over 1000 people. On arrival at the St Agnus Anglican Church Hall in Zoar, the PSFA staff immediately started cooking a nutritious luncheon that consisted of curry soya mince, rice, butternut and carrots. While the food was being prepared, our director, Petrina Pakoe, financial manager, Morne Goosen, logistics manager, Tanith Hamman and fundraising manager, Charles Grey together with staff from HOPE Africa, the social development programme of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, visited Zoar EC Primary and Amelienstein LB Primary to hand out educational packs, party packets, bottles of hand sanitizer, masks, shoes and socks to the learners at these schools.
