We welcome Simons Town School to our feeding family of schools!

We are happy to announce that Simons Town School joined our feeding programme at the start of the fourth term this year. PSFA is now providing 150 learners affected by poverty attending this school with daily breakfasts and lunches.
This is the wonderful response we received from Mrs Lucresia Harrison, Acting Principal of Simons Town School:
“On behalf of the school governing body, staff, and parents of Simon’s Town School, I would like to convey our gratitude towards the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) for the wonderful contribution and service they are providing to our learners who are receiving a daily nutritious and sustainable meal.
The programme is of great strategic importance because it enhances the general well-being of participating learners.
By alleviating hunger and improving nutrition, the food intervention programme enhances our learners’ active learning energy levels and focus capacity by improving their concentration and ensuring greater productivity during lessons. This has contributed to an improvement in the attendance and punctuality of our learners.
We appreciate the manner in which Viwe Bontsa, PSFA’s field worker, so skilfully trained and equipped our ladies who prepare the daily meals.
Thank you, PSFA, for making a difference in the lives of our learners.”
Simons Town School is a dual-medium school providing schooling from Grade R to Grade 12 on the same premises.
Founded in 1815, the school is the fifth oldest school in the Western Cape and the oldest in the Cape Peninsula.
Located at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountains and overlooking False Bay Harbour, Simon’s Town School is one of the most scenically-located schools in South Africa.
In 1995, in keeping with Simon’s Town’s proud maritime and naval heritage, Simons Town School became the first school in South Africa to introduce a Maritime Studies department.
Over two decades later, the school’s Lawhill Maritime Centre has become synonymous with quality maritime education.
